'Twas the Night Before...

2nd grade, and I was giving my 7.5 year old a bath in the sink haha. I kid you not. She wanted to "just relax, and have a nice bath in the sink". Can't make it up! I hope she never tells her friends :)

Anyway, we found out that she has Ms Pastier on Saturday, and she has a few friends in her class this year (not Clare, though!), but she was still feeling a bit anxious. She was so excited when she received a letter and "jitter glitter" from her teacher, and she ran right upstairs to put it under her pillow! Phew :)

And of course we had to have a dance party to celebrate the end of summer! :)

After the performances, we went upstairs, I read her the letter I read her every night before school starts (about being kind to people, how we love her no matter what, etc. etc.), and then she asked me to cuddle and tickle her. We talked for a while, I told her how I remember being the "new kid" at HB in 2nd grade, and how it is amazing that all of the friends I made when I was her age are all still my best friends! She looked at me and said, "what if no one likes me?", which simultaneously broke my heart and made me think she was insane (because how could someone NOT like her?!!!), but then even she had to giggle. And once we started, we just couldn't stop. Every time we would compose ourselves, one of us (me!) would start again. It was hysterical, and a good way to banish some of the anxiousness I think. She fell asleep without much fanfare, and I think we are both excited for this next chapter--woohoo! Fingers crossed for a good first day tomorrow, and a wonderful year in 2nd grade ;)

Xoxoxo
