Wordless Wednesday

Charlotte's tennis lesson with Kevin…check out the form! :)

Image

Backhand "just like Mamie"…based on the position of the ball, however, I think maybe she is swinging a little too late haha

Cutie :)

Image 3

Henry waiting patiently for his haircut…no pictures of his actual haircut because he was screaming/crying the entire time! Ugh.

Image 53

On Saturday night, we took the kids to Southampton for dinner and ice cream.  I should note that Charlotte picked her own outfit :)

Image 42

As we walked past this jeweler on Jobs Lane, Charlotte asked if Santa Claus would get her this 6+ carat emerald ring, haha.  She asked me if Santa knows how to make those kinds of presents…I told her "I don't know, but if he does, I expect to get one too!"  Hey, there is an End of Season 40% off sale, after all :)

Image 2

Henry makes quite the mess with a cup of ice cream…so from now on, this is how he has to eat.  You can tell he was thrilled!

Image 7

After dinner and ice cream, we took the kids to the beach to run off some of that sugar!  Such a beautiful night :)

Such a ham

Image 43

His body was moving faster than his feet haha :)

Image 21

Mommy & Daddy did NOT run the dunes :)

On Sunday, we took the kids to Harbes in the morning, and then went wine tasting…not a bad day! :)

Mike was NOT traveling light...

…but he did rock the man purse! :)

Taking a little break...

Image 33

Getting her face painted…she got a cupcake on her hand, and a butterfly on her face.  So exciting!

Image 13

Image 49

Here is a close-up of her butterfly (in pink and purple, of course!) :)

Image 25

When we showed up at Martha Clara, Jon went to walk Henry and try to get him to go to sleep, and Charlotte ran right to the animal pens. The first thing we encountered were these turtles mating, and she was incredibly concerned that the big turtle was going to "squish" the little one.  She was running around saying, "oh no…he is going to hurt the baby! Oh no!".  To say that the adults around us were hysterical would be an understatement :)

Image 18

Charlotte and Sydney…such good buddies :)

Charlotte appears ready for a pretty intense game of soccer haha

Grandma came to hang out for a bit…posing in front of the bulls (we think)

Feeding the goats out of an ice cream cone!

Image 17

Meanwhile, Henry was asleep in his stroller under a big umbrella…check out the crossed feet.

Image 24

…clutching Duke with his little fingers.  Sigh.

Image 19

And before long, he was up and ready to have fun!

Image 26

They were strangely interested in the manhole cover under the sand, because they could poke holes right through the sand

All business

Image 22

Charlotte wanted a turn pulling Henry, but this didn't last long!

Image 23

That's more like it! :)

Image 38

Not as easy as it looks, haha

Image 35

Good times…we had a great weekend.  Lucky kiddies, lucky parents :)

And this was how I found Henry on Monday after driving to school…guess that 6:30am wake-up was too much for him!  I knew it was a bit too quiet in the car :)

Hard Knocks

The kiddies had a rough day today…Charlotte has had a stuffy nose again, and we thought it might be the beginning of a cold, but it doesn't seem to have developed into anything yet.  Maybe allergies? Anyway, she woke up this morning complaining, "when it this (the stuffy nose) going to end?!", "why do I feel this way?!", "I can't take this!", etc. etc.  Picture her saying it in the most dramatic voice you could imagine…like, drama reserved for really, incredibly difficult situations, haha.  So that kind of set the tone for the day.

Then she was downstairs with Mamie, and a toy fell out of the closet and hit her in her gums/tooth…she was bleeding a lot, and so of course that was complete hysteria (understandably, this time!).  Poor thing was a nervous wreck, asking "is there blood? Is there blood?" as it is dripping out of her mouth.  Gross.  And she refused to calm down and put ice on it, so our solution was to give her a pop…Henry was really confused by this, as it was only 9:30am!  He kept looking at me quizzically and saying, "pop? Me deddert (dessert) now? Pop?".  Haha.  But once she calmed down, we had Poppy look at it (so nice to live with a doctor!), and he said it was okay and that it would heal…he did mention that her tooth might turn gray if there was damage, but I am just going to keep my fingers crossed that doesn't happen :(

Here is a picture of Charlotte after all of that drama! Just too much to handle in one day ;)

Image 30

Right after she was settled and calm, I changed Henry out of his PJs only to find that he had an allergic reaction to the mosquito bite he got yesterday when we were out walking…it was completely swollen, red and angry, and it appeared that it was spreading.  So, once again, my dad took a look and we put some steroid cream on it and started him on antibiotics right away (have I mentioned that it is nice to live with a doctor?!).  This is a bad picture, but you can get the idea…Jon said if my dad wasn't there to look at it, he would be heading over to the ER!

Image 52

This happened last year when he was bitten, too…the last mosquito bites he had were last September (I guess I was good with the bug spray over the summer!), and his entire face and forearm blew up and got so red.  I even had to take him to the pediatrician because I was so worried.  Poor thing…who is allergic to bug bites?!  Kind of bizarre.

In typical Henry fashion though, he didn't seem at all bothered by it…he wasn't complaining or itching it or anything.  Talk about a different temperament than his big sister, haha.

So, all in all, it has been a very eventful day for us :)

Out of the mouths of babes...

Some funny things the kids have been saying lately that I want to remember...

We have been keeping Cas somewhat separated from the kids, because Henry is really grabby (that's a word, right?!) these days and doesn't look where he is going, so he is a pest and often falls on the dog while Cas is napping or whatever…and although it isn't Cas' fault, we don't really trust that he won't react one of these times.  So anyway, one day we put Cas in the yard, and he was barking incessantly, so Charlotte said, "If he doesn't stop barking soon, I am going to put him in a basket and send him down the river" haha.  Kind of dramatic, but I understand the frustration :)

I've also been known to say "for the love of God" when I am exasperated…I try not to say anything like that in front of the kids, but Charlotte has heard me mutter it once or twice.  The other day, something happened, and I knew she was trying to recall that saying.  She turned to me and said (with the same inflection and exasperation in her voice), "Lord in prayer!!!", haha.  Close enough :)

And Henry is picking up new words every day…I love hearing his little voice, and watching him try to find the words and form sentences.  The other morning he woke up and called me urgently ("Mommy!!! Mommy!!! Mommy!!!"), and when I walked in and saw all of his stuffed animals on the ground outside his crib, he got a sad look on his face and said "ohhhhh noooo!", as if they got out there on their own haha.  So, because it was still early, I took him into bed with me so I could wake up and he could watch a little TV.  When we were laying down, he kept on leaning over and giving me kisses on the mouth, then he would look confused, point at my mouth and say "Mommy hot", "Mommy hot".   I am pretty sure the phrase he was looking for was "morning breath", haha.

Feature Friday

It's been a while…so here are some videos :)

Charlotte's Taylor Swift performance  :)

Saturday night dance party :)

Things are getting weird, haha

Dancing to Tangled :)

Jon was trying to fix the vacuum, and--go figure--we had an impromptu sprinkler!!!  So exciting, haha

Charlotte was getting brave here…and yes, this is brave for her :)

Wordless Wednesday :)

A beautiful day at the park :)

Image 1

Henry had something in his shoe and kept on limping when I put them on, so he was that barefoot kid running around the park, haha

Image 2

I would throw up all over the place :)

Image 3

Not a bad view!

Image 4

We have company!  On second thought, maybe I shouldn't have brought food for the ducks…they get aggressive!!!

Image 5

With my kiddies…someone didn't want to cooperate :)

Image 10

Running free!

My baby boy

Image 13

And baby girl :)

Image 6

Charlotte wasn't around, so of course Henry went for her stroller...

Image 14

…can you tell from his face the fate of the baby?  Needless to say, Dora went flying halfway across the deck haha.

Image 15

Henry was really quiet one day after nap…apparently, he was conducting a stealth operation to throw all of his stuffed animals out of the crib.  I walked in and he gave me a sad face and said, "ohhhhhh nooooo!!!!", as if it was all an accident :)

Image 16

Another beautiful day at the OHB

Image 17

Henry's buddy…so gross.  He is like a magnet to the crabs.  Eeeek.

Image 23

"Wassat?!!!!"

Image 24

Charlotte told me she wanted to wear her "America outfit" this morning…her skirt has pink stars, and her shirt (hidden by the baby, thank goodness) has red, white and blue stripes, and then she had the navy blue cardigan.  Picking my battles.  And just in case you didn't know what an "America outfit" was, now you know.

Image 18

Right before he went and jumped in the mud, possibly ruining those white shorts forever haha.  I'm learning that little boys and white clothes don't really mix  :)

Image 19

Potty training is going to be interesting, haha…not that I am going to attempt that any time soon!

Image 22

Charlotte's first homework assignment…she had to do a self-portrait.  When she was making the necklace, she turned to me and said, "Do you have any real diamonds I can use?!".  Sure, I just keep spare diamonds hanging around for you to bring to pre-school :)

Image 26

Charlotte's twins…she named them Gia and Chase :)

Image 30

Poppy was taking us out on the boat, but it was an incredibly windy day and not enjoyable at all...

Image 36

…so we just docked the boat at the marina and had a picnic lunch!  Here is Henry doing his "cheese" face haha.

Image 34

Yup, he took one bite of that sandwich and handed it to me and said "noooooooo"

Image 33

The kids had fun fishing with Jon at the little beach by the marina

Image 29

Image 32

Image 55

Pretty great place to live!

Image 31

Yup, here we go again! :)

Image 39

Ready to deliver...

Image 38

…and with her newborn :)

Image 40

Poppy even got to be a patient this night…he kept on making noise, and so Dr. Charlotte took care of that by simply placing the mask over his face.  And then, for some crazy reason, she handed him two phones, haha

Image 41

Love when they love each other so much :)

Image 50

Henry kept going back for more kisses because Charlotte was eating a yogurt and had remnants on her lips, haha.  He kept going "eww!" and wiping off his mouth, then he'd run around the island and come back for another kiss :)

Image 54

Posing.

Image 48

As an expectant mother, of course.

Image 51

Henry wasn't allowed to have dessert this night because he didn't eat anything for dinner, but Charlotte was having some ice cream.  I went to the bathroom, and when I came back, Henry had pulled up a chair right next to her, and she was sneaking him bites of ice cream.  Couldn't help but laugh (and take pictures).
