You will have to bear with me this week as I take a bit of a break from blogging…in addition to the Christmas madness, Jon and I just bought a Mac (our Christmas present to each other because our other laptop, which I’ve had since law school, is maddening!). Unfortunately, I can’t quite figure out how to download the blogging program I use. So…until I get the hang of the new computer, I might be M.I.A.! Wish me luck :)

When I was studying for the bar, there was a BarBri professor who always asked, “so what is the takeaway, in 5 words or less?” (in reference to a 30+ page case, no doubt). Charlotte reminded me of that when she came home from school today…they have been learning a lot about Christmas, and this week the teachers took them into the church and told them the story of baby Jesus. Charlotte’s takeaway, in 5 words or less? “Mary got pregnant”. Pretty much all she had to hear! :)
Decorating our beautiful Christmas tree, where it very temporarily lived (until mean mommy made daddy move it to the dining room to keep prying hands away!). Oh, and the stockings didn’t make the cut either…maybe next year!

The hardest part was trying to keep Charlotte from putting all of the candy in her mouth! But she was proud of our little house…it isn’t too shabby :)
However, I signed her up for a gingerbread making event at her school on Friday night, and she and daddy came back with this…kind of puts our little house to shame, haha. They had much better candy too :)
Of course I claimed the Twizzler before anyone else could get their mitts on it!

Yeah, that is what the barber did to our Henry boy. I went into the barber shop, and requested “1 inch from the back”…we still wanted to keep it kind of long, just didn’t want it on his neck. Heck, Jon didn’t want him to get a haircut at all! I was a bit concerned when the guy came over and he was about 112 yrs old, but I figured that just means he has a lot of experience, right?!
Not quite. Apparently, what the barber heard was “take it all off unevenly, please”. Here are some pics of our little adventure :(
Not surprisingly, Henry wouldn’t sit in the seat by himself, so we got all set up with him sitting on my lap…
He sprayed Henry’s hair with water, which he wasn’t thrilled about…

Um, doesn’t look like one inch off of the back to me!
That is when I might have gotten a little upset…I was still nice, but I explained that wasn’t at ALL what I asked for. He basically had taken it upon him to do what he pleased. He said “it will grow back nice and thick and strong, not like this fine baby hair”…um, I LOVE that fine baby hair. Ugh.
Being that I saw where this was going, and how it was all uneven and cut in layers, I decided to leave before he could butcher the front of Henry’s hair too. I just picked him up, paid at the front, and left… :(
From far away, you can’t tell that it is uneven and there are randomly long pieces of hair sticking out…
But when you get up close, you can see that it is no way near straight (and in person, you can see the flyaways that are like 2” longer than the rest of his hair).
I know it is not important and it will grow back, but it still upset me…and I know someone who is going to be even more upset than I (sorry, Jon!).
Hoping I can keep him still long enough tonight to attempt to even it out!!!

On Saturday, Charlotte’s school had “Breakfast with Santa”, where the kids could all have breakfast, do some arts & crafts, and sit on Santa’s lap. Given Charlotte’s reaction last year when we ran into Santa at Home Depot (in a nut shell, she was shaking and crying uncontrollably…sheer hysteria), I didn’t have very high hopes. But I thought maybe we could have some family fun and get some cute pics of the kids NEAR Santa, at least…we did have fun, but not so much time was spent with Santa, haha.
Henry was so excited to be sitting at the “big kid” tables on a chair, although you wouldn’t really know it from his expression!
Once he realized there was food, he went to town!
And then Henry started his bagel hoarding…he was simply going from plate to plate, and stealing bagels. I think the other parents probably thought we had never fed the poor kid!

I asked Charlotte if she wanted to sit on Santa’s lap, and this is the reaction I got…she ran to the side of the room, as far away from Santa as she could possibly get ;)

So we decided to just try to see if Henry would sit with Santa…he lasted all about 4 seconds. He started to flail and almost hit Santa in the nose with his head, and then he used his brut strength to try to wrestle himself out of Santa’s grip!
Then he did the same thing to me…he had some more dancing and/or bagel stealing to attend to!
All in all, a very successful visit to see Santa, haha :)
