So today was my first parent/teacher conference…yes, for the 3 year olds at nursery school, haha. But I literally couldn't be prouder of our little girl. I went in there and one teacher just sighed and said "ahh, Charlotte…she is just the sweetest, happiest little girl". Good start :) Then they both went on to tell me that she always, always listens, she is independent, good with the other kids, incredibly intelligent and cognitively well beyond where she needs to be at this point (of course, when I told Ray this, his reply was, "well, she is an Ariola after all", haha…sorry Jon). They really couldn't say enough about her…they said she is just an absolute pleasure and a joy to have in class.
I asked how she gets along with the other kids, because last year she was still always shy around other kids, and they assured me that wasn't the case at all anymore. Her one teacher said, "no, she plays extremely well with the other kids. She will even organize groups of kids to play. Like if a few of the kids are in the kitchen playing, she will say, 'now you do this, and you do that…'". So I said, "basically, you mean she is bossy and tells them what to do?", haha. The teacher also said that she sticks to her convictions…for example, she said the other day they were working on numbers and the teacher asked Charlotte what number she was looking at, and Charlotte said "it is a P", and Mrs. H said, "no Charlotte, that is a 6", and Charlotte said, "nope, it is a lowercase P", and even after the teacher went on to explain they were doing numbers and not letters, Charlotte just said "well, it definitely looks like a P", hahahaha. So basically I think she was telling me she is also stubborn :)
Mrs. D said Charlotte absolutely loves yoga, and that she is incredibly strong for her size/age. She asked if I had her in gymnastics, and it turns out Mrs. Donehue was a gymnast, so we took a little detour about that for a while…surprise, surprise :) But she said she can go across the monkey bars in a snap, haha. That's my girl!
So, all in all, they honestly didn't stop raving about her the entire time. Of course my mom said "you know they did that for all of the kids", but I had to set her straight…I heard them giving the mother before me a list of things that she had to work on with her daughter to get her up to speed, and a friend of mine said she got the same thing. So there. Charlotte is just special. And I am sure we are the first parents to feel that way :)
Love our little dewdrop!
Xoxoxo
