Unbelievably, Henry is going to be 15 months old tomorrow…I am not sure where the time has gone! Today we went for his well baby visit, and he is 20lbs, 9 oz and 29.5” (I think)…she said he is 5th percentile for his weight and head circumference, and 10-15th for his height. That is tall for our family, haha. Jon said he should’ve known we were destined for small kids when he married me :)
Anyway, the doctor was asking me the usual developmental questions, and so it got me thinking about what he can/can not do at this point…he says “mama”, “dada” (that is his favorite), “mamie”, and something between “mehmehmeh” and “nehnehneh” for milk. Lots of other sounds, but nothing is very clear. He is starting to say what could be interpreted as “no”, and he also barks like a dog when you ask him what a dog says…or what a cow says…or what a bird says. Give the kid a break—he is only 15 months old :) He claps hands enthusiastically, he puts his hands in the air when you say “how big is Henry”, and he does a flamboyant wave when you say “hi” or “goodbye”. But my personal favorite…when I call him, I sometimes use my finger and say “come here Henry James”. Recently, he has started to mimic me and does this funny thing with his pointer finger…he thinks it is hysterical (and even funnier when he is running in the opposite direction!). He has started to have a lot more temper tantrums in the last few weeks…he clearly knows what he wants now, and he is NOT happy if he doesn’t get it. He lays down on his back with his body as straight as a board and just screams….for about 25 seconds, and then he is over it. He runs all over the place, and LOVES to climb…he gets frustrated that he can’t get on the couch yet, but he can climb on the toybox. He has attempted to get on the window seat too. I’m not sure I am ready for a climber :) He also wants to do everything Charlotte does, which I still think is cute (for now). The doctor asked me if he knows how to throw or kick a ball yet, and it was funny, because all I could think about was the fact that if you throw or kick the ball to him, he picks it up and runs it over to his sister (or me). But just to prove me wrong, when we got home, he literally dribbled the soccer ball from one side of the room to the other…I kid you not, he kicked and followed it the entire length of the living room. He showed me :)
Here is a picture of our big boy from this weekend…doesn’t he look thrilled to be wearing his new winter hat?!
We love our little Henry boy! :)
Xoxoxo
