Henry's First Day of School…Kind Of! :)

Well, Henry had his first day of school today, but I say "kind of" because a) we were only there for 40 minutes and b) the parents stayed the entire time.  So I'm not sure if it really counts :)

All morning, he was very nervous and kept on saying "I no go to school, I no go to kindergarten I not 5" haha.  I told him numerous times that he wasn't going to Charlotte's school, he was just going to go to the place where he had mommy & me, with the big room, etc. etc., but he still wasn't having any of it.

I told him I wanted to take some school pictures, "just like Charlotte", and this is the look I got…classic Henry

Thank goodness after a few knock-knock jokes, and Charlotte saying "squid" and "Mr. Wigglebutts", we saw a glimpse of silly, smiley Henry (rare when there is a camera in sight!)

Of course I have to play around with the photos of my handsome boy! :)

After pictures, we walked Charlotte to school…here she is on line, holding onto Clare for dear life haha.

The second we walked past our house to the nursery school, Henry started crying saying "I wanna go Henny's house, no wanna go school".  He was NOT a happy camper.  By the time we got a block away from school, he was in my arms and was NOT letting go.  We walked in, and he briefly let go of me to go down the slide in the big room, and then clamped onto my leg and hid behind me the entire time.  Teachers were saying "hi" to him, and he was having none of it haha.

When we went into the classroom, they had forms for the parents to fill out, and papers for the kids to color.  Henry wanted me to write "A-B-C-D-Es" for him, and wasn't happy that I had to complete the forms.  But he did color a bit, sitting about 3" away from me haha.  It was only in the last 10 minutes of class that he realized that there were magnets and blocks and puzzles and all kinds of fun toys on the floor…so we did that for a bit, and before we knew it, it was clean-up time.  He did sing the "clean-up" song, and put the toys away (surprise surprise), and then--go figure--I couldn't get him out of the school.  He went to his teacher and said "Donehue! Donehue! Where's snack?" haha.  Two things are very funny about that; 1) he refuses to call her "Miss Donehue".  Everyone else is Miss or Mrs, but since mommy & me, he has only referred to her as "Donehue"; and 2) you can tell my kids don't get juice a lot, because they LIVE for the apple juice during snack time haha.

Then I had to get him out of the big room, which was also a challenge…of course he needed to take a 10 minute pit stop to play with the trains and trucks.  But when I finally got him out, he was even willing to pose for some pictures by the United sign!  Wowee :)

And just for fun, here are some pictures of Charlotte on her first day of preschool as a 3 year old…craziness!!!

Fingers crossed that Henry does okay on Thursday when I have to actually leave him at school! :)
