The weekend of February 8th, there was a legendary snowstorm in the northeast. They called it "Nemo". Not the most menacing of names, huh? Almost hard to take seriously when you are picturing a cute little clown fish with a "tiny fin" haha. And yet, we had hurricane winds, zero visibility, and more snow than I can ever remember in my entire life.
Jon's best friend's grandfather died that week, and we knew he had to be out in HB for the services that weekend, so I headed out with the kids early to make sure we were there long before the storm started. Jon, on the other hand, got stuck driving out in awful conditions…even though it was only a few hours into the storm (and before the crazy accumulation), he said he's never witnessed anything like it. Cars were all over the sides of the highway (we learned later there were tons of people stranded who ended up spending the night on the highway), people skidding all over, zero visibility…he said it was awful. Thank goodness he was able to make it to my parents' house, and we could hunker down as a family! :)
Here are some pics...
Cas enjoying the snow the day after the storm. HB got around 30"!
Snow dog :)
The next day, Charlotte was anxious to get out and play in the snow. Henry, on the other hand, was quite content to stay in his PJs (surprise, surprise) and remain in the house :)
Beautiful!
Snow angels!
So much fun :)
With my goose!
And, here it is, the inevitable crying fit when she is too cold and NEEDS to go inside immediately. It was fun while it lasted, haha
Caught resting with mommy :)
Followed by a photo shoot with mamie…Henry is clearly refusing to participate haha
Love
Back out for round #2!!! :)
This time daddy made a hill. Of course he did!
Time to go sleigh riding (with the Go Pro on the boogie board!)
Ready to take the plunge!
My love
There she goes!
With mommy before I got my turn to go down on the boogie board! :)
And I can't believe I haven't posted this before…I absolutely LOVE it. Jon used his Go Pro camera footage to make a movie. This is what happens when Jon is stuck inside and he can't go anywhere, haha. So awesome…move over Spielberg! :)
Later that afternoon, we were serenaded by Charlotte. I apologize in advance to your eardrums haha.
I love Charlotte's deep lyrics, and Henry's little twirl :)
That evening, our fun continued with Henry as our waiter haha. Clearly my videos aren't high-budget films like "Snow Girl", but they are the best I can do on my iPhone :)
And we followed it up with some tea...
The next day, we finally got Henry outside (with his trucks, of course).
He got to go for a ride too!
And daddy showed off his (snowboarding? surfing?) skills!
With the honey badger :)
On Sunday, Jon and the kids ventured to the beach…love this picture of the kiddies on the Ponquogue pavilion :)
And this is the video Jon made of footage from the second day of snow play :) Such a talented husband I have haha.
And the craziest part is that when we got back home, there was barely any snow. Like, maybe a few inches on the ground. At my parents' house, they got almost 3 feet, and we somehow came away mostly unscathed. Crazy.
So that was "Winter Storm Nemo" in a nutshell…3 months later! :)
Xoxoxo
