We were home in HB this weekend because a guy we went to high school with unexpectedly passed away, and we came back for the services. I've never seen rain like we had on Friday night…it was like a monsoon. Seriously, it didn't rain that hard during any hurricane I've ever experienced! That night, I went to the wake with James and Jess (Jon was stuck in RVC because of the weather)…thank goodness they had a tent outside, because there were so many people there and it took us like 30 min to even get inside. So sad, but so nice to see such a turnout…the owner of the home estimated that 2500 people came to the wakes, and said he'd never seen anything like it. HB at its finest!
On Saturday, it was still a little windy, but we got a glimpse of summer :) We tried to go to the ocean, but it was much too windy, so we ended up at Melissa's beach. The kids had a blast just exploring and finding snails and "baby fish" (really those little bugs that swim in the shallow water). Here are a bunch of pictures!
Love when they play side by side like this :)
Such a beautiful town
Cuties
Charlotte introducing me to "Bailey" the snail-y haha
Rounding up the snails! Henry was calling them "hermit crabs"…too funny.
Daddy was on a quest to find horseshoe crabs for some reason :)
Another find!
My loves
Such a ham
The kids were pestering us to go swimming from the second we arrived, but because the big pool still isn't ready, we took out the "baby pool" haha. They certainly didn't seem to mind!
Henry getting wild!
He kept twisting his body so he would flip over like a turtle on his back haha. Still freaks out when he gets his face wet though.
Charlotte was even wetting her face. Big steps here, folks, big steps!
Playing with Picframe again. My loves.
This morning, we decided to go to the bay and go fishing (Charlotte's got the bug after her catfish extravaganza a few weeks ago). Here she is holding our frozen bait, which mommy wouldn't even do. Gross haha.
Mini-explorers at work again. Henry was digging for hermit crabs :)
The bridge from the other side…equally as gorgeous :)
Waiting for a nibble (didn't happen, unfortunately)
Making sandcastles
"Mommy, tum! Tum! Tum!" (that's "come" in Henry speak). He wanted to show me that he found a dead crab haha
Beautiful day
Going off to try fishing in the little "river"
No fish, but they did get some fiddler crabs! They wanted to take them home haha.
Watching over the crabs
And because this is so normal, just a shot of Henry on the baby potty…in my parents' hallway haha. Not sure how that got out there. Or why he decided he wanted to go on the potty (because we aren't potty training yet), but I thought it was quite the scene :)
Xoxoxo
