In "Meet the Fockers", there is one part where Ben Stiller is talking to Jessica Alba's character about what it is like to be a parent, and he says, "I mean, it's not single fun…it is like, getting up at 6am to change a diaper fun" haha. One of our favorite comedians also does a bit on "single fun" vs. "parent fun", and ever since, it has become one of our favorite sayings (even Charlotte has been known to say it when Henry is being particularly challenging!).
So today I was talking to Ray about the weekend, and he mentioned that he and Liz went for brunch on Sunday, had a drink, and then proceeded to walk around the city and go to like 6 other places for food and drinks…just having an awesome NYC day. I wrote back, "we went to a 3 year old's birthday party at a bounce house with 25 toddlers, so it was a similar experience". His response--"it's not single fun!", haha. But regardless, we still had a good weekend.
Like I said, on Saturday we went to Sydney's 3rd birthday party at Bounce U, which of course gave me and Jon heart palpitations being that we ended up in the emergency room with Charlotte the last time she went on a bouncy house. And adding insane Henry to the mix made for an interesting experience, but they both had a great time (and took great naps!). We felt like we had a full workout after the party, just from chasing them around (well, I MIGHT have gone in and done a few split jumps in the bouncy house…maybe).
Neither Charlotte or Henry really stayed still for more than a second, so these are the only pictures I managed to get!
Me & my love
Cute girl!
On Sunday, we went to Long Beach and fed the birds. It was a bit windy, but it was a really nice day…here are some pictures :)
The seagulls are starting to gather...
Henry wants in on the action :)
Word was getting out that there were some good treats, haha. Charlotte said before we went, "we can only take whole wheat bread, because I really don't want them eating all of my rye bread" :)
Henry was running and screaming in excitement
You can tell how windy it was by looking at Jon's hair :)
Trying to get her exercise in, haha
So much fun
Henry walking the plank...
Everything.must.stop…Henry spotted a plane!!!
Attempting (unsuccessfully) to get a picture of daddy and his kiddies
Henry having a temper tantrum because he wanted to walk/climb on the slippery rocks
…trying to sneak onto the rocks, as if we wouldn't notice :)
Such a goose!
What I didn't capture was the frigate that very aggressively went after Charlotte. She was chasing the bird, and we thought nothing of it…just assumed it would fly away when she got too close. But this bird must have had eggs nearby or something, because it turned around and flew right at her head. And didn't back down. She was about 20 yards away from us, and Jon went running over, but those things have huge beaks and it was pretty scary…luckily, she had no idea what was going on. But I couldn't get the kids off that beach fast enough, haha.
So, it definitely wasn't "single fun" that we had, but we had lots and lots of family fun this weekend…I'll take that any day! :)
Xoxoxo
