Yes, I haven’t been updating this blog as much as I would like…I just feel like time gets away from me these days! Anyway, we are all doing well…been keeping busy with “school”, activities, PT, etc.
Charlotte is doing so well in school…she absolutely loves it. She loves her teachers and classmates, and starts asking if we can go to school at 7am. Each day, I have to explain to her that the teachers are still sleeping, and then they are with their own children, and then they are driving to school…until 9am rolls around. I sound like a broken record! But I love that she is so excited, because at least I know she is happy there.
She has also started gymnastics classes (at a real competitive gym), and I am sure you won’t be surprised to know that she is a natural! After the first day, the coaches came up to me to tell me how great she is. She walks along the low beam all alone, on her tip toes with perfect form…it is only about 8” off the ground, but it is still pretty impressive for a child her age. Not to brag, but she is the only one in her class who can do it :) And she seems to have no fear on the trampoline, going about 15’ up in the training belt (this from the child who wouldn’t leave my side to go into ballet class!). Here is a picture of “flying Charlotte” way up in the sky…
They have a party room there, and we’ve also booked the “Totnastics” gym for her 3rd birthday party. She seems to be very excited about, as it is brought up at least 16 times a day!
Henry is also well…his first tooth just broke through today! He has been such a trooper though, and you wouldn’t have known he was teething because he has been in great spirits. We went to the doctor last week, and apparently there has been a bit of an error in Henry’s measurements…I am sorry to inform you that we don’t have the tall baby we thought we had (not surprising looking at my side of the family). Or if we did have a tall baby for a short period of time, he now appears to have shrunk, haha. Last month we were told that he was 26.75”, and now he is only 26 1/8” (I think). He has also fallen in the weight percentiles…when he was younger, he was in the 75-80%, and now at 6 months he was only 16lbs, 14oz (and in the 25th percentile I think). The doctor suggested we try giving him more solids, which goes against everything I’ve ever heard about infant feeding (namely, that breastmilk or formula is supposed to make up the majority of their diets until 1yr, and that solids are just for practice at this point). So…I think I am just going to keep giving Henry two meals a day of solids and trying to get him to take more bottles for now. I kind of think that the reason he didn’t gain a lot of weight is because he never stays still, and I don’t think force-feeding the child is a good idea. He scoots all over the place on his belly, does 360s, sits up, and he is starting to get up on all fours and rock…something tells me that he is going to be crawling soon!
Here is a pic of Henry sitting up…
While we were at the doctor, Charlotte was very brave, which is totally out of character. Even when we go for Henry’s appointments she likes to stay in the stroller where she is safe. But this time, she got out of the stroller, she was walking around the exam room and playing…until she realized that she had to get a needle too (Hep B). Then she had a minor meltdown, but it paled in comparison to the outbursts she used to have. Maybe seeing Henry get 3 shots with barely a whimper made her realize it wasn’t THAT bad. But I bet that she doesn’t venture out of the stroller next month :)
Here are a few more pictures I want to share…
The kiddies cuddling in bed (note Charlotte’s arm around Henry)
Our happy little guy :)
Charlotte demonstrating her new trick! I still can’t believe she can do this with her little button nose…
Okay, I’m off, but I will try to check in more frequently!
Xoxoxo
