Out of the mouths of babes…

I was just telling my mom that Charlotte has been wildly entertaining recently…the things that come out of her mouth, and the things she does, are just hysterical (to me, anyway).  For example, as I’ve mentioned before, we are in the midst of potty training Charlotte…this essentially means that I’ve lost all privacy.  She just bursts into the bathroom whenever she feels like it, and then proceeds to ask questions about what I’m currently doing.  Now Jon, on the other hand, has been doing his best to lock doors and otherwise keep Charlotte from running in.  Unfortunately, she snuck in on him the other day and saw him peeing.  The next day, which was a Monday, I was feeding Henry in the kitchen and finishing up dinner…she had to go to the bathroom, so I told her to go right into our powder room.  She went, and after a minute I hear, “mommy, why is it all wet in here?”.  So I went into the bathroom, and there is urine all over the floor…I asked Charlotte why she peed on the floor, and she told me “I was trying to pee just like daddy”.  She was facing her baby potty, and must have straddled it and tried to pee standing up.  It took all of my power not to burst out laughing, but I didn’t want her to make a habit out of this new “method”! :)

She also told me the other day, with a very serious face, that I was “so genefous, so so genefous” (generous) when I shared my apple with her, she told me Barbie had “big nipples”, and she told me her legs “were freaking out”.  About that last one, I explained to her that it isn’t nice to say “freaking out” and I was asking where she heard that, because we don’t like to speak like that…Jon shut me right up when he told me I said it in the car that day when I was on the phone with my dad (describing my sinuses, haha).  Ooops.

Here is a picture of Charlotte mastering her forward roll on the beam!

And here she is being a silly goose :)

As for Henry, he is wonderful…on March 8th, he started crawling forwards.  He only goes 1-2 “crawls”, and he needs to rock back/forth to get the momentum to get going, but he is on the move now!  And even if he doesn’t crawl, he is able to roll or crawl backwards to get wherever he wants.  We desperately need to break out the baby jail, or mommy won’t be able to leave the room!  As it is, every time I leave the room I have to ask Charlotte to keep me updated on Henry’s whereabouts…often I come back 2 minutes later and he is clear across the room, or under the couch.  His new trick is that he likes to go over to the wall and play with our television cables, which is when Charlotte screams “mommy, he’s playing with wires again!”.  So for the time being we’ve put pillows, and Charlotte’s big horse Caroline, in front of the area where the cable is…should work for a short time at least!

Henry is doing well at PT as well.  Lisa thinks he should only come for another 2 weeks, and then we should take a break until he starts walking.  When kids hit milestones, such as sitting, walking, etc., the tort is more likely to “come out” and be more troublesome, so she wants to reevaluate after he is standing and walking.  But she thinks he has made great progress, and is really happy with his range of motion and strength at this point.  Here is a picture of Henry hard at work on the exercise ball:

Sitting up all on his own…such a big boy!

And a rare picture of the two of them, where they are both semi-smiling and kind of even looking in the right direction!  Miracles do happen :)
