We took our first family vacation last week…we went to Turks & Caicos, and it was FABULOUS!!! We stayed at the Sands, which I was somewhat leery about, but it ended up being absolutely perfect with the kids. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bath with a living room/dining room/full kitchen, and a beautiful screened-in wraparound porch. It honestly couldn't have been any better, largely due to the heated baby pool…we could barely tear the kids away from the pool to do anything--go to the beach, eat, sleep, haha. But it was perfect for them, and we enjoyed sitting around the pool with all of the other parents and having our own little happy hour :)
Of course, Charlotte got sick with an awful cough/cold a few days before we were leaving, so I was super anxious about that…I didn't know if it would be a problem flying, and I didn't want us to get stuck down there needing a doctor. But we went, armed with antibiotics, and even though she didn't feel well, she was a trooper. Miraculously, Henry didn't get it!
Here are some pictures and videos...
Charlotte was so incredibly excited about the drive to the airport because we hired a van to drive us. She couldn't stop talking about the minivan. When people asked her about her vacation, she starting talking about the van. Apparently, we could've saved a lot of money if we scrapped the vacation and just rented a minivan, haha.
Henry was a little apprehensive about the airplane. As soon as we started taxiing down the runway, he closed the window and refused to let me open it for the remainder of the trip :)

Vacations are exhausting!!!! Henry fell fast asleep in the airport.

And Jon took a lot of videos on his GoPro, so I am sure a movie will be forthcoming :)
All in all, it was an absolutely wonderful vacation. The kids were really good on the plane rides (except for the first 15 min when we were heading home, when Henry screamed the entire time and I was sweating profusely!), and we had a better time than we could've ever imagined :) Except now that the kids have a taste of vacation, i am not so sure Jon and I will ever be able to sneak away alone, haha. They have had a taste of the good life :)
Xoxoxo
