Hurricane Irene paid us a little visit this week, and put a little crimp in our end of summer plans! All of the media build-up was slightly scary, and then we were all told to evacuate from my parents’ house…throw in a tornado warning in the middle of the hurricane, and I was a mess. Needless to say, neither Jon nor I slept more than an hour that night (compounded by the fact that I was laying on the floor outside the kids’ bedrooms, and Jon was camped out in our basement at home to make sure we didn’t have any water damage).
We didn’t end up evacuating, and thank God, besides some heavy rains and wind, there was no damage to my parents’ house or our house. Many people weren’t so lucky…here is a house by where Jon keeps his boat. We always talk about how beautiful the location is and how we would like to live there…not anymore, haha.
And Jon went for a run around RVC tonight, and he said one of the largest homes in town, a Tudor, was literally split in half by a gigantic tree. So scary.
There were widespread power outages out east, but RVC never lost power, so we quickly packed up and came back home a few weeks early…we are still settling in, but so far so good! Not sure what we are going to do for the holiday weekend yet, but we will figure something out!
I am going to work on uploading some more videos this week, so hopefully I will have some good stuff to share soon :)
Xoxoxo
